Perhaps at the expense of some interesting places to visit and explore though, in my opinion. That said, not played the last DLC for XCOM 2, and not tried Civ VI much.įallout New Vegas: similar reasons to Skyrim, better plot, dialogue and characters. I love turn-base strategies like this, because you can get to fiddle about with so many starting conditions, mods, modifiers, and get almost totally unique experiences out of each. XCOM 2 & Civ V: together for similar reasons, the vanilla is fine, but its the modding that makes them great. The animations, faster paced combat, highly varied factions, makes it a great purchase. Total War Warhammer: Napoleon is probably my favourite Total War, but Warhammer is a fantastic introduction to the series for new players, and a pretty OK introduction to the Warhammer setting.
And that's not forgetting the absolutely huge number of mods to suit almost all tastes. "Every mountain can be climbed" is a meme, but that makes it special for me. It is incredibly immersive, and fun to just wonder about doing your own thing. But it really is far better than sum of its parts. Skyrim: combat, plot, dialogue, magic and RPG systems weren't the best then, and has only aged quite a bit compared to Witcher III. But from it, I can suggest at least the following: My current most played list on Steam isn't necessarily reflective of what I would suggest other people to play.
